GE Lighting unveils major Jafza facility
Lighting solutions industry bellwether GE Lighting on Thursday July 7th unveiled its first full-fledged distribution centre in the Middle East at the Jebel Ali Free Zone, marking a significant foreign direct investment in Dubai.
The 1,375-square-metre facility — comprising commercial, industrial and residential areas — will serve as a strategic hub for the Fairfield, Connecticut-based company to further expand its presence in the UAE. “Industrialization in Dubai is still strong and that is what makes the emirate still the place to be in the wider region,” said Harris, Director of Logistics Investment Support at Dubai FDI. He pointed out that Dubai’s trade industry remains firm, specifically citing Emirates airline and Dnata, which continue to witness strong airfreight numbers, contributing to the overall economy.
The Jafza facility will be home to over 2,000 products, featuring the company’s latest advanced product range. It is one of the largest showcases of GE globally. It is designed to meet the growing need of advanced lighting solutions in the UAE, as well as the Gulf Cooperation Council, Middle East and Africa, where GE Lighting has established long-term partnerships.
